The national assembly makes the declaration empowered by the riots and taking over the bastille
equality to all men
assembly has power and the king was not mentioned in the document

Connection to Enlightenment Ideals: This document protected men only, what would Wollstonecraft think? Why?
Wollstonecraft would disagree with this and say that women should have their own rights along with men. She would argue that women were not inferior to men and were oppressed by the monarchy.
Women’s March on Versailles:
1789 word got out that the queen trampled the tricolor flag and Marat become enrages
Marat urges people to fight.
Women gather by city hall and protest the lack of bread and all the hate build up thousands of women take their complains to the king
“Fish ladies” are strong, poor and have weapons so they become leaders
Marie Antoinette never said let them eat cake because she probably never even noticed the poor women.
by morning 20000 people are outside the palace and demand that the king and queen move to paris
the royal family is afraid that they will die so they are hesitant
women run through the palace and kill the guards
marie escapes just in time
The mob forces the king and queen to go to paris of the heads of the guards that were cut off
The royal family is prisoners to the people and the assembly has power

Robespierre speaks to the people and helps them and gets the nickname the incorruptible
Louis is forced to sign laws to get rid of his power and the church
Louis by 1791 wants to regain control so he tried to escape in june by disguising him and the queen
they have a poor plan so they get by a town official just before getting to austria
Revolutionary guards arrest him and take him back to paris
People hated him for this because they saw it as a betrayal that he tried to abandon his people
Robespierre calls for equality, no death penalty and no slavery
beheading was death reserved for nobles so people wanted equality in death
Guillotan makes the guillotine which is humane killing apparently because it kills you fast and it efficient
Assembly thinks that austria will attack them so they want to pre attack austria but Robespierre thinks they aren’t ready and will lose but no one else agrees
So th people go to attack Austria but if they lose Louis and Marie will go back in power
France is losing and prussia joins the attack
