Truman maintained the idea that the USA was under national threat and believed that government could take any steps necessary to quell this

drafted railroad workers into the army blocked the proposal by senate

Truman lost support from unions from his response to coal and rail strikes and wartime mentality 

Truman took control of coal mines after union breached contract where Truman took them to court

banned political payments from unions and government employees strikes
