  • Complementarian Perspective: men and women are equal in worth but have distinct complementary roles in the church and family, women are typically not permitted to hold certain roles because they are reserved for men.


God’s covenant with Adam

  • God justly required Adam to have perfect obedience. This was the obligation of the covenant with God 

  • As a test God commanded Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil

The consequences of Adam’s sin

  • The Penalty: Curse was death (physical, spiritual, eternal)

The effects of sin

  • Shame/Separation between man and women, man and God, creation and man

Objections to God’s sovereignty and the problem of evil

    • The Bible affirms sovereignty and free will 

  • Objection, If God is sovereign over all things, how can he hold people responsible for their sin
