Lesson 4.1 - Congruent Triangles

Congruent Figures are 2 polygons that have the same size and shape; all congruent corresponding angles and all congruent corresponding segments.

ABCDE ≅WXYZT is an example of a congruency statement.

Definition of congruent triangles: 2 triangles are congruent if and only if their vertices can be matched up so that corresponding parts (angles and sides) are congruent.

In a proof, when the definition of congruent triangles is the reason for a statement, the wording commonly user is “corresponding parts of congruent triangles” (CPCT)
