Organization of Life

All living things are made up of cells. Some are only made up of one cell, and others have many cells. Even cells have different types

  1. Unicellular

  2. Multicellular

Cells are the building blocks of life and they are the most basic structural and functional units of our life. Cells make up tissues which make up organs, and the organ systems inside organisms

Cells get their name from an Englishman named Robert Hooke, in 1665. He thought that the slices of cork resembled small rooms that monks lived in, called cells.

Cells are really small and we need a microscope to see them. There are two types of cells, prokaryotic and eukaryotic.

Inside a plant cell, there are; vacuoles, cell wall, mitochondria, nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, chloroplasts, golgi apparatus, plasma membranes and cytoplasms.

Inside a animal cell there are; Mitochondria, Centriole, Lysosome, Cytoplasm, Plasma membrane, golgi apparatus, ribosome, endoplasmic reticulum and a nucleus.

Inside nucleus's there are nucleolus.
