What is the “Joy of Love”, who wrote it? Why?- The “Joy of Love” is written by Pope Francis and is a a document in which he explains truly the joy of love. How loving one another can cause genuine happiness in life.
Synod - A group of bishops from around the world who gather in Rome to discuss matters of the Universal Church
Apostolic exhortation- One of the several documents that are written by the Pope to encourage people of living the faith
Magisterium – The church’s living teaching office which has bishops with the Pope (Bishop of Rome), they interpret and preserve Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture.
Pope- A title that the Bishop of Rome uses, who is the shepherd of the Universal Church and the successor of Saint Peter
Bishop- One who has fully received the sacrament of the Holy Orders and is a successor to the Apostles
Diocese- A specific or local church or community of believers who gather in parishes, under the bishop
Gentile – Non-Jewish person
Peter – Apostle who was one of the first leaders of the Christain Church, and was the first of its unbroken succession of popes
Stephen – A Christian deacon that was in Jerusalem and was the first Christian martyr
Paul – A saint and apostle form Turkey
Sanctification – To make something holy or purify it
Martyrdom- To suffer death due to beliefs
Pentecost – 50th day after Easter, a feast day which celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit following the Acts of Apostles of Jesus.
1st Covenant made with whom? What was promised and how does it relate to the Church today? - Abraham, the Abrahamic covenant is when God promised great blessings to Abraham and his family and descendants, that he would give them protection and land if they trust and have faith in God. It relates to the church today. It relates to the Church today as it demonstrates that if we have trust and faith in God, he will do us good in our life and our everlasting life.
Disciple – Follower of Jesus
Apostle – 12 chosen people that Jesus chose who are his witnesses
12 apostles rooted in the 12 witnesses of Jesus?
What does “To evangelize” mean? to do BOTH, seek and convert in faith AND Christianit
