Sublimation :: converting negative energies into positive or useful ones

Repression :: forgets memories that cause psychological pain or trauma

Regression :: a form of coping that is similar to an infant

Denial :: tricking your brain into thinking something is not true to protect yourself from pain

Projection :: accuse others of having the same “negative” impulses that you have

Displacement :: repressing “sexual or aggressive” impulses toward a person or thing and shifting those urges to a less threatening thing that is more acceptable

Reaction Formation :: feels guilty for a desire that is unacceptable so they act the opposite to lighten the amount of guilt

Rationalization :: when someone justifies their actions
