Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI)

  • Gonorrhea (Bacterial)

    • A bacteria that attacks the urogenital tract, rectum, brain, cardiovascular system and may attack the joints causing arthritis.

    • Symptoms: Frequent urination and burning, scars that can cause infertility.

  • Chlamydia (Bacterial)

    • Contracted by oral, vaginal or anal sex from infected partners.

    • Can infect urinary tract.

    • Usually does not cause any symptoms but a burning feeling when u urinate or abnormal discharge may occur.

  • Syphilis (Bacterial)

    • Caused by bacteria and can be transmitted by kissing.

    • One of the most dangerous STIs.

  • Herpes Simplex 1(oral) & 2(genital) (Viral)

    • Blisters occur.

    • Symptoms: Small ulcerations on the genitals, can be painful.

  • Trichomoniasis (Parasite)

    • Many people are asymptomatic (no symptoms).

    • Symptoms: Yellow-green discharge, vaginal odor, discomfort during sex, etc…

  • Genital Warts (Viral or Certain Strains)

    • Skin growths that can cause pain, discomfort and itching.

    • Dangerous for woman because some types can cause cancer of the cervix and vulva.

  • AIDS-HIV (Viral)

    • Attacks T-cells and helper T-cells.

    • Most have no symptoms for many years.

  • Hepititus A,B,C,D&E: Viral A/B vaccinations others not.

  • Crabs: Pubic lice (parasite)

  • Scabies: Parasitic mite causes skin rash.

  • Vaginities/Yeast infections: Yeast organism.
