Test Administration & Selection

  • Test administration

    • Many tests may be administered before making a hiring decision

      • Drug, physical, personality, cognitive, reference checks, credit report checks, background checks(social media)

    • Help gauge a person’s KSAOs (knowledge, skills, abilities, and other personal characteristics) in relation to another candidate

  • Selection

    • Clinical selection approach: (most common) involves all who will be making the decision to hire a candidate. The decision makers review the data and, based on what they learn and the information available to them, decide who should be hired for a job

      • Issue: Interviewers have different perception about strengths of candidate, this method leave room for error (disparate treatment)

    • Statistical Method: a selection model is developed that assign scores and gives more weight to specific factors

      • Limits disparate treatment/perceptions of interviewers
