parental factors: parent has been abused was a young child (more likely to abuse), parents have unrealistic expectations of child (uninformed of child development), parental mental illness, drug or alcohol abuse
environment factors: overcrowding In the house (increased stress levels), poverty or lack of opportunity to improve resources, domestic violence (violence is already in the home)
