Year 12 Worldviews Activities
How do you know what (or in Whom) you believe?
Could be the way our emotions sway our views and the decisions we make. As well as influences from close relatives, friends, social media, the media, etc.
How comfortable would you be in talking to someone who believed something different from you?
I would feel fairly comfortable, as long as it is a shallow conversation I would be completely fine. Even in deep conversations talking about our beliefs I wouldn’t mind telling them how I feel about my faith and so forth.
Do you ‘own’ your faith, or do you believe what you do because of others’ expectations, or because it’s what you’ve always done?
I would say that as of around 2022 I wasn’t truly owning my faith. I was doing it because it’s what I’ve always done. But growing up and deeply thinking about how I wanted live my life, I have been growing in owning my faith. And I can only hope that it continues to grow evermore each day.
Read John 14:6
What did Jesus mean by this?
He is the only one we should look to. We should have complete trust in Him.
How does it relate to the study of world religions?
Many world religions rely on a person or ‘higher being’ for direction in life. Just like in the verse, he is the way, these beings could be ‘the way’.
How does this relate to my own key beliefs?
This relates dearly as I believe in the Son of Man, Jesus Christ.
Write a short 45 second “Elevator Speech” that you could share with a stranger in an elevator that outlines five personal core beliefs that are most significant in your life.
Looking back on your research on what each of the five major belief systems believes on how we get to the next life, whatever form it takes, type a statement as to how Christianity is uniquely different from all the others.
Start making notes for your assessment that you will be writing in Monday’s period (Dec 2nd) on your own worldview
