Lab 12: Survey of Land Plants

Organs is a group of tissues working together to perform a specific function.

Plant organs include roots, stems, leaves, and gametangia.

Simplest plants have no vascular tissue and therefor do not have true roots, stems or leaves.

Consist of a simple body called thallus.

All plants exhibit two different generations

  • haploid gametophyte

    • gametophyte develops from haploid spore and makes spores by meiosis

  • diploid sporophyte

    • sporophytes develop from the 2n zygote and makes spores by meiosis
