The Era Of Good Feelings was a time during President Monroe's Presidency, this described a very successful time during the U.S. History. The economy and Politics were at an all time high.

2nd Bank of the US
N- Yes it helps industries.
S- Yes they need more capital.
W-No because they believe in local banks more.
tariff controversy
N-Yes (Manufactures/ Industry people want more money) No(Merchants / Shippers don't want more taxes)
S-No the goods they made are too expensive
W-They didn't have a stance.
internal improvements
N-No they don't have the need for it.
S-Yes more development is needed.
W-Yes more development is needed.
Land Expansion
N- North did not want the expansion of the U.S.A. as they lost power as the country grew.
S & W- Both the South and West wanted more land to farm and expand towards.
Slavery
N- North didn't support slavery as it was not a use to them and many people began viewing slavery as inhumane.
S- South Strongly supported slavery and used it as a primary source of profit for their economy.
W- Split some/ Disagreed with slavery as they had no use and viewed it as inhumane as well. (Some didnt).
John Marshall cases:
Martin vs. Hunter’s Lessee
(1816) The court decided that it had the authority to hear all appeals of state court decisions in cases involving federal statutes and treaties. In this case Denny Martin attempted to sell Virginia land that he had inherited from his loyalist Uncle. Virginia law argued that no enemies can inherit American land. The Supreme court decided that this Virginia law conflicted with the Treaty of Paris and that Martin would get the land.
McCulloch vs. Maryland
(1819) This case concerned Maryland’s attempt to tax the second bank of the United States. They first ruled on the bank's constitutionality which they deemed constitutional. They next viewed the case and deemed that taxing the national bank was in fact unconstitutional and was deemed not okay.
Gibbons vs. Ogden
(1824) This case involved a company that had a monopoly over steam boat traffic. The Supreme Court declared this unconstitutional, and argued that the state legislature had overstepped its power in granting the original monopoly.
Jackson in Florida
Jackson invaded Florida due to the fact that many runaways resided in Florida and built up armies and resistances to raid the U.S. settlements in Georgia. He then proceeded to invade the “Seminole” camps and capture their bases and land.
Adams-Onis Treaty
The Adam-Onis Treaty ceded the entirety of Florida to America due to the fact that America Was putting pressure on Spain due to the issues relating to refugees hiding in Florida and attacking Americans settlements.
Monroe Doctrine
The Monroe doctrine was a declaration made by the U.S. that established that they are an independent nation that cannot be recolonized.
Missouri Compromise
Missouri wanted to enter the union as a slave state. As a result the congressman of New York proposed a resolution making it that all slaves inside of Missouri currently to be freed at the age of 25. They were able to compromise when Maine wanted to be a state also so they made one a slave state and one a free state to maintain balance in the senate, and house.
Election of 1824 (who, results)
John Quincy Adams against Andrew Jackson, Clay, and Crawford.
Corrupt Bargain
As a bargain Clay transferred his support to Adams and put Clay as the secretary of state because Clay helped him get into power. Many called foul play and believed this to be corrupt.
Election of 1828 (who, results)
Andrew Jackson won the election after using many tactics to villainize Adams, and make him seem worse. Examples are Adams putting in a billiard table to the white house and the corrupt bargain rumours.
Jacksonian Democracy (changes)
Many voters were allowed to vote. Many people who previously were not able to vote now are. Cities began to grow. This was due to Property restrictions being lifted.
spoils system
The spoils system was a common system where citizens were appointed to government jobs based on which party they supported.
nullification crisis
This idea argued that the states have the power to supersede National law. This idea came from the fact that the states created the union. As a result Andrew Jackson sent the military to stomp out the resistance.
Cherokee issue/Trail of Tears
The trail of tears was when the Americans forced Cherokees out of their homeland and forced them to walk to Oklahoma. Many died in this due to inhumane conditions. The total was close to 4,000. 2 k during the walk, and 2 k during waiting in the camps.
AJ vs. the National Bank
Andrew Jackson believed that the national bank was unconstitutional. He decided to end it via removing funds from the bank and placing them in safe banks.
Whigs
Rising party that opposed Andrew Jackson and viewed him as a sort of monarch due to the fact that he often did not respect the constitution. The Whig party emerged in the 1830’s. They believed in a larger federal government. They also believed in commercial and industrial development. They believed in a centralized government.
Martin Van Buren
President that succeeded Andrew Jackson. Felt the effects of the removal of the National Bank system. Typically viewed as a bad President.
“Tippecanoe and Tyler too”
They swayed the election by blaming Van Buren for the economic Crisis. Additionally Harrison was presented as a simple frontiersman, who was wealthy. This made Van Buren look extremely bad and many disliked him.
Webster Ashburton Treaty
Settled disputes between Britain and America by Finalizing the Borders of Maine, and Wisconsin.

A People In Motion- America as a whole began to expand. Cities grew bigger. Steam engine technology began to grow. More businesses appeared. Voters increased. Many americans were optimistic, and slightly selfish and profit minded.
Offices are Solely for the Benefit of The People- Jackson believes that extended servitude of people in governmental positions often causes more harm than benefit. He also believes that no one person has more of a right to a position than another person.
Two Effects of Equality-European Aristocratic societies are generally more happy, and find themselves in better moods due to the fact that people in these societies are not in constant search of more rather than improving their situations. In contrast Democratic societies are focused on constantly getting more and more, and are not able to be happy with the current things they possess.
People Collectively are Wiser than the Individual- People as a whole are more intelligent than the individual. The more people you have the more correct opinions are able to be held, and therefore the less possible it is for incorrect opinions to sway the vote.

Worcester v. Georgia (270)
Case where it was determined that Georgia didnt have the right to order that citizens cannot live on Cherokee given land. The US Supreme Court ruled in their favor. In the case of Worcester vs Georgia, Marshall ruled that Georgia's laws were invalid to the Cherokee, a sovereign nation and ordered Worcester and the missionaries to be freed.
