1. LITERARY ARTS

-Drama – A literary composition using dialogue and action to present human conflict on stage.

-Essay – Non-fiction writing that can be descriptive or explanatory.

-Prose Fiction – Narratives created by authors; "fiction" means "to form" or "to invent."

-Poetry – Literature written in verse, following specific rhythm and meter.

-Miscellaneous – Includes history, biography, letters, journals, and diaries.

-Tragedy – Presents human suffering.

-Melodrama – Emphasizes action over character, often sensational and romantic.

-Comedy – Plays with happy endings.

Theatrical Forms:

-Absurd Theater – Exaggerates events and situations.

-Stage Show (Bodabil) – Variety acts and performances.

-Brechtian Theater – Also called "epic theater," based on Bertolt Brecht’s ideas.

-Children’s Theater – Performed by or for children, often based on folktales.

-Lea Salonga – First Asian woman to win a Tony Award, voice of Disney’s Jasmine & Mulan.

-Daisy Avellana – National Artist for Theater and Film, co-founded Barangay Theatre Guild.

3. VISUAL ARTS

-Graphic Arts (2D) – Includes painting, drawing, photography, relief printing, and engraving.

Definitions:

-Painting – The process of applying pigment to a surface to create forms and colors.

-Drawing – Representing objects or scenes using lines, shading, and textures.

-Photography – A chemical-mechanical process of capturing images using light.

-Relief Printing – A printmaking process where the raised parts of a surface are inked and pressed onto paper.

-Engraving – Carving designs into a surface to create an image or text.

-Graphic Processes – Techniques used to create multiple reproductions of artwork, such as relief printing, engraving, and silkscreen printing.

-Mechanical Processes – Printing techniques developed by commercial printers to mass-produce images or text.

-Photography – The process of capturing images using light-sensitive surfaces, often involving chemicals and mechanical techniques.

-Architecture – Designing and constructing buildings.

-Landscape Design – Planning outdoor spaces like parks and gardens.
