- Definitions:

- An atypical experience of recurring/intense sexual arousal to objects, situations, fantasies, behaviours, or individuals

- atypical is not weird or bad or dysfunctional, just uncommon

- A sexual interest in anything other than a consenting human partner

- Sexual deviations and disorders

- Fetishism: sexual arousal derived form objects or non genitaly body parts

- Transvestism: crossdressing

- Exhibitionism : showing to others

- Voyeurism : watching others

- Pedophillia: by prepubescent children

- Sadomasochism: sadistic and masochinist

- Other disorders that are illegal:

- Frotteurism: rub genitals against ppl without consent

- Necrophilia

- Zoophilia (Bestiality)

- The Norm

- If a behaviour is too deviant it will be criminalised or labeled as a disorder

- Regulated by society

- When is it a disorder? Three criterias:

- Marked distress associted wtih arousal

- The person has acted on the arousal pattern towards unwilling others or other unable to give consent

- Serious risk of injury or of death

- Four D's of abnormal behaviour

1. Deviant

- Prelevent? Safe? Legal? Stigmatised ++++

2. Dysfunctional --> cause impairment

3. Distress (emotional)

4. Dangerous to self or others
