Page 1: Understanding the PowerPoint Window

  • Identifying Elements: Identify components of the PowerPoint interface such as the ribbon, slide pane, status bar, etc. Understand each element's purpose:

  • Notes Pane: Where you can add speaker notes for yourself.
  • Creating Slides:
  1. In the Slide Pane, enter the title "TC Insurance Services" in the title placeholder, followed by "Company Security Division" in the subtitle.
  2. Enter your name on the next line.
  3. Save the file with the name IL_PPT_1_Analysis in your chosen location.
  4. Create an additional slide using the "Title and Content" layout as referenced in Figure 1-22.

  • Select "Company Security Division," italicize it, and increase its font size.
  • On Slide 2, change the color of the word "Accurately" to Orange, and set the font size of the word "common" on Slide 3 to 32.

  • Navigate to the Design tab and explore the available themes. Apply the Madison theme to a selected slide and then change Slide 1 to the Parallax theme, also applying it to all slides.

  • Use the Review tab to run a spell check. Correct any misspelled words like "incident" and make necessary changes.
  • Presenter View:
  • Familiarize yourself with Presenter View, which gives you additional controls and options during a presentation.
  • Advance slides using the controls provided at the bottom of the status bar and remember how to end the presentation gracefully.

  • Print the presentation as handouts, specifically choosing the option to print 3 slides per page in color.
