Daily Machine Disinfection

Please note that external disinfection should be completed prior to the following steps: 

Acid Cleaning

1. Gather supplies and don PPE.

2.Remove the bicarbonate line from the jug or loop (blue line) and attach it to the front of the machine to the Fresenius bicarbonate port on the front of the machine. If using bibag drain bag per policy and discard

3. Connect the dialysate acid line to the front of the Fresenius 2008T machine

4. Select Start Up and press Acid Heat Clean.

5. At the prompt, press Confirm to start

6. Attach the acid and bicarbonate connectors to an acid/vinegar jug when prompted

7. Press the "Confirm" icon to begin the acid clean.

8. Return the concentrate connectors to the machine when prompted

9. Complete the heat disinfection step

10. Document the disinfection of the machine in TMS
