Color is the art element that refers to reflected light.


The color wheel was created by Issac Newton. If you follow the color wheel, you will find the same order of the color spectrum - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. People most likely remember it in ROYGBIV.

Tint is the light side of the spectrum, while shade is the dark side of the spectrum.

Primary colors are Red, Yellow, and Blue

Secondary colors are Orange, Green, and Purple

Tertiary colors are created by mixing equal parts of a secondary color and a primary color together. There are 6 tertiary colors: Red purple red orange blue green yellow green blue purple and yellow orange.

Primary colors first while secondary colors second.

Warm Colors are colors that convey a warm feeling. Ex. Red orange and yellow

Cool colors are colors that convey a cool feeling. Ex. Green Blue and purple

Complimentary colors are colors that are found directly across from one another on the color wheel. Ex. Blue and orange red and green

Analogous Colors are colors that are right next to each other on the color wheel.

Monochromatic is an image made up of just one color, but utilizing tints and shades of said color.
