Buddy Holly: Born in 1936. Signed with Decca. Made the Crickets. Married a Puerto Rican woman. He was more reserved and wrote his own songs. Did double tracking. Died in airplane.

R&B and Gospel-Derived Rock: People that became popular to it was Lloyd Price, Ray Charles, and Sam Cooke.

Rockabilly: Sun Records helped a lot. Johnny Cash helped.

Soft Rock: Important contrast to the musical characteristics evident in mainstream rock and rockabilly. Artists that helped was Paul Anka, Bobby Darin, and Frankie Avalon.

Vocal Grouops: Ranged to rock oriented style. Male singers had great vocal range. Female Singer rare.
