NOTES ON PANDORA (ENGLISH)

Pandora (part 2)

Pandora was made out of clay by Hephaestus by a order of Zeus; Zeus then gave life to the clay, making Pandora. She was all gifted (hence pan = all) Zeus created her because this was a punishment by giving men fire. She then married Epimetheus (Prometheus's brother.)

Gifts She Received

Aphrodite gave her gifts such as she taught her to look at man without moving her eyes and to dance without moving her feet.

Appolo taught her to sing and play the Lyre.

Athena taught her to spin and weave.

Demeter taught her to tend a garden.

Poseidon gave her a pearl neckless and promised she'd never drown.

Hermes gave her a beautiful box and she promised never to open it.

Hera gave her curiosity.

Rest of the story…

She got tempted to open the box, so she dug a hole and buried the chest in there to prevent herself from opening, but due to Hera giving her curiosity (ruining everything) she dug it back up and opened it, causing lizard like creatures to fly everywhere releasing disasters. Before the last one escaped, she closed it leaving 1 thing in there, Foreboding.

The lizard-like creatures she released.

still gave people hope, since she didn’t let Foreboding leave the box, but she gave us millions of other problems.
