Reliability: the consistency of results

Repeatability: how often similar results can be obtained when a experiment is conducted in the same conditions

Reproducibility: How close the results are when the investigation is replicated under changed conditions.

Validity:

Internal Validity: The accuracy of the impact of IV on DV

  • experimental design

External Validity:

  • can results be generated on a population

Coming to conclusion:

  • must be consistent with results obtained

  • must be relevant to what is investigated

  • state if hypothesis was supported or not

  • state how influential extraneous or confounding variables may impact DV/results

  • potential limitations

  • quality of evidence

  • if it can be generalised

  • Limitations

→ Consider reliability or validity of data, identify limitations and describe and explain degree of impact. Suggestion for further research

Generalisation:

  • how well results can be applied to a population from which sample was drawn

  • determined by sample : size, sampling type

  • extraneous & confounding variables

Opinion: Personal point of view and is susceptible to change
