• Class III: Proximal surfaces of incisors/canines, not involving edges; arises from poor hygiene; treated with fillings.

• Class IV: Involves incisal edges on incisors/canines; requires substantial restorative treatment.

• Class V: Gingival third of tooth surfaces near gum line; linked to gum recession; treated with fillings and possible gum disease treatment.
