Sheet Music uses various symbols, but the ones you’ll usually find are….

Symbol	Name	Purpose
	Whole Note (Worth=4)	When playing, hold this note for 4 beats worth.
	Half Note (Worth=2)	When playing, hold this note for 2 beats worth.
	Quarter note (Worth=1)	When playing, hold this note for 1 beat worth.
	Eight Note (Worth= 1/2)	When playing, hold this note for 1/2 of 1 whole beat.
	Sixteenth Note (Worth 1/4)	When playing, hold this note for 1/4 of 1 whole beat
