Psalm 42

Seeking God

1. Like a deer pants for water so does the soul pant for the Lord

2. His soul thirsts for God and he asks when he will appear

3. Saying his tears have been his meal while they wonder where God is

4. The psalmists reminisces when he would go with others to the holy place with joy and praise for the Lord

Uplifting his own Soul

1. He asks his heart why it is downcast and disquieted

2. He knows God will come through for him time and time again

3. He will continue to praise and ask for help

Asking the Lord

1. Admits that his soul is down

2. Yet he remembers God from Jordan and Mizar hill

3. He feels trapped under the weight of a waterfall

4. He is buried beneath the Lord’s waves

5. He trusts God to share his lovingkindness with him during the day and his song at night

6. He admits he has questioned God due to his discouraging circumstances

7. Even his enemies will ask where God is

8. But he reminds himself he has hope. He will continue to praise God, the health of his countenance. Having full faith the Lord will guide him.
