Large Intestine Channel and Points

Channel Theory Review

  • Channel theory is being reviewed, and its components include the channel, and channels is start and end.

Key Aspects of Channel Study

  • Channel Pathway: Primary, Lower Connecting, Divergent, and Sinew.

  • Pathological Manifestations: Major signs related to organ function.

  • Therapeutic Indications: Clear outline for channel use.

  • Point Actions: Actions and indications of specific points.

Channel Pathway Types

  • Primary Channel: Focus on start, end, organ connections, and pathway meets.

  • Lower Connecting Channel: Understanding connection and reach.

  • Divergent Channel: Origins, terminals, and organ connections; clinical implications.

  • Sinew Channel: Connects with muscles and tendons, especially major joints.

Characteristics of the Yangming Channels

  • Channels is abundant in qi and blood.

  • Channels Yang qi strong and related the points to to clear in body.

Therapeutic Indications Review

  • Related to the channel pathway and relevant organ pathology.

Large Intestine (LI) Channel: Hand Yangming

  • Primary channel course (LI-1 to LI-20).

Primary Channel Pathway

  • Starts: Radial side of the tip of the index finger (LI 1).

  • Course:

    • Along the radial side of the index finger.

    • Passes between the first and second metacarpal bones (LI 4).

    • Enters the depression between tendons of extensor pollicis longus and brevis (anatomical snuffbox, LI 5).

    • Ascends anteriorly on the forearm to the lateral aspect of the elbow (LI 11).

    • Ascends laterally on the upper arm to the shoulder joint (LI 15).

    • Crosses behind the shoulder to the depression between the scapula spine and clavicle (LI 16).

    • Traverses to Du 14 (below C7), meeting other yang channels.

  • Internal Branch:

    • From Du 14, enters the supraclavicular fossa, connecting with the lung; descends through the diaphragm to enter the large intestine.

  • Another Branch: Ascends from the clavicle to the lateral neck, passes through the cheek, and enters the lower teeth.

    • From the gum, it passes through ST 4 at the corner of the mouth, curves around the upper lip, and crosses to the opposite side of the body at Du 26.

    • The left channel travels to the right, the right channel to the left, ending on either side of the nose at LI 20.

  • Internal Connection:

    • Connects with the lung, large intestine, stomach (via a branch to ST 37).

  • Clinical Significance:

    • Affects areas along its path skin problems, breathing stuff.

Large Intestine Channel Flow

  • According to "Huangdi Neijing", at LI 20, large intestine channel joins with the stomach channel.

  • Branch descends to Stomach 37, lower He-sea point of the large intestine.

Path of Lower-Connecting Channel.

  • Origin: LI 6 (3 cun above the wrist).

  • Course:

    • Connects with lung channel.

    • Ascends to shoulder (LI 15), jaw, and cheek.

    • Divides into two branches: one connects to the teeth, the other enters the ear.

Course of Divergent Channel.

  • Origin: Separates from the large intestine primary channel on the hand (between first and second metacarpal bones).

  • Course:

    • Ascends to the shoulder (LI 15),

    • Travels medially to the spinal column,

    • Crosses to the supraclavicular fossa.

    • Descends to the thorax, breast, lung, and large intestine.

    • A branch ascends from the supraclavicular fossa along the throat and unites with the large intestine’s primary channel.

What are The Functions of divergent channel

  • Connects the internally and externally related channels

  • Strengthens the internal connections between organs

  • Extends from regular channels to enhance effects and expand applications.

Muscle Region (Sinew Channel)

  • Course:

    • Starts at the tip of the index finger (LI 1).

    • Binds at dorsum of the wrist, ascends the forearm, and binds at the lateral elbow.

    • Ascends the upper arm to bind at the shoulder and connects at the scapula and upper thoracic spine.

    • Ascends to the neck, a branch around the cheek binding at the side of the nose.

    • The neck ascends anterior crosses temple with mandible on across.

Pathological Symptoms in the muscle region channel

  • Cramping and pain along the the channel

  • Limited shoulder-raising and contracted neck

Clinical review ( Large and Lung Connection)

  • Large intestine primary channel enters gums of the lower teeth.

  • Primary channel crosses to the contralateral face.

  • The sinew channel ascends to the corner of the forehead, crossing over the head.

  • LI Lower-Connecting Channel connects the teeth and the ear.

  • Divergent channel descends to the breast.

  • LI Sinew Channel attaches to the upper thoracic spine.

  • The Divergent Channel runs close to the spinal column in an area of du14

The Organs that interact with the Large Intestine Primary Channel

  • A connection with lung (internally, externally related organ).

Points Related to the Large Intestine Channel pathway (LI 1, LI 2, LI 3, LI 4

Meeting Points For LI Points

  • Channels pass though 214,SI 12, 12, ST 4, DO 26,

Chief Symptoms Related to Pathology in the Organs and Channels

  • Organs ( Bulbaricamus, diarrhea, constipation, dysentery)
-Channels ( congested and sore throat, toothache, watery nasal discharge).

Therapeutic Indications Review on Pathology in the Organ or Channel

  • Can address a large, expansive area of the body and symptoms

  • Head and Face, 5 senses, and Lrynx

  • Febrile diseases can show warmth pathogens on in a part area of the body

  • Diseases can be seen with secondary layers

The Core Functions of the Large Intestine

  • Receiving waste from small intestine.

  • Absorbing fluid. forming stool and excretion.

The Characteristics of Yangming Channels

  • Abundant with Qi and Blood regulate blood and treat muscle weakness

  • A repleat with young qi clears access of heat and febrile disease

Actions and Indications of the LI Channel

  1. Treat Yangming Channel Disorders.

  2. Treats disorders for any channel in certain channel locations.

  3. Expells Wind- Cold for exterior syndrome.

  4. Clear Fire for mental disturbances.

Location For High Risk Points

  • The point's LI 1 and I 2 does not have any majors in the cautions and high risk notes

  • Other points do have the same information, but not many for any other points after
