During World War I, women had many jobs and responsibilities. The number of women in labor unions increased during World War I. Many women in America performed jobs usually done by men. The main jobs women had during WWI was nursing. Propaganda posters were used during WWI influenced women to support the men in their lives who were going to fight in the war, volunteer to help the war effort, and work in factories to support the war effort.
Trench warfare was a new tool or weapon of war. Each side dug ditches where they would hid in and shoot from. Casualties increased because of trench warfare. During WWI new types of weapons were used including machine guns, tanks, and poisonous gas. The Panama Canal is important because it provided faster transportation from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.
U.S.S, Britain, France, and Italy were declared the victors (winners) of World War I. Germany was one country that lost World War I. The Treat of Versailles ended World War I and was very hard on Germany. The provisions of the Treaty of Versailles created a climate of bitterness and resentment in Europe that ultimately let to World War II. Many historians agree that the Treaty of Versailles led directly to World War II.
