What is in This Part of the Exam?

  • You’ll need to answer 35 questions based on printed material

  • The time limit is 55 minutes, including the time spent on listening to recordings and reading print materials:

    • You will get 1 min to skim the questions

    • Take notes while listening to the audio

    • Afterwards, you will have a minute to skim the questions again

    • After a minute, the audio will be played again

  • This exam tests your understanding of French on a speaking level

  • It’s not about memorization. It’s about understanding what you are listening to

  • Pace yourself! Don’t take too much time for a single question, as there are many questions to answer in a short amount of time

  • Practice! Practicing will help you gain confidence (you won’t be as nervous on the actual exam)

  • Make notes while listening! Anxiety can make you very forgetful- be sure to write down any important information

  • Carefully inspect the print material! The print material is there to help you- so use it!

  • Write down any unclear sentences/concepts! Was anything in the exam mumbled or unintelligible? Write it down so that you can pay close attention to it in the second recording
