Electricity & Circuits

Electricity: movement of electrons

  1. Moving a magnet relative and metal (copper) wire creates a flow of electrons

    • metal must conductive

    • electrons move via the wire, based on magnetic

  2. Circuit: a place for electrons to go, a path for them to follow and a reason to move

    • destination: battery

    • path: wire, conductors, low or high resistance (depth of width & material)

      • low = gases

      • high = light bulb filament

      • resistance = some electricity is lost to hear, the more resistance

    • flowing electrons: current, amperage

      • motor is the release of a turbine and generator

    • rotary motion: motor & magnet in a circle

      • motor = reverse gear, magnet = moving electrons that push a magnet

    • utilize electricity in reverse to generate

    • renewable = direct turn of a turbine instead of using a heat source for steam
