England was Spain’s ally and therefore didn’t have any interest in establishing colonies overseas
Mid 1500s
England is disturbed by religious conflicts when King Henry VIII separated from the Roman Catholic Church and established his own (1530s)
The protestant Elizabeth became queen and protestantism became dominant in England (1558)
This created and intensified the rivalry between England and the Roman Spain
Ireland Conflict
