3. Holy Communion – The weekly nourishing of God’s actual Body & Blood, given in the Mass. Catholics do not believe this is merely a symbol of bread and wine but it is actually transubstantiated in Jesus’ Body and Blood.
4. Confession – The forgiveness of sin and the restoration of loss grace caused by committing a mortal sin.
5. Anointing of the Sick – Grace given as aid to those suffering or preparing for death.
6. Marriage – Grace to live out the vows (or oaths) publicly given between one man and one woman. The vows must be made freely, with the intent of indissolubility (for all of life), and with an openness to children.
7. Holy Orders (ordained priesthood) – The grace that gives an ordinary man the ability to have the power of Christ in the world. Through the “laying of hands”, a man receives the authority to perform the sacraments as Jesus in the world. This authority has a direct and unbroken lineage to the Apostles themselves.
