Palisade cells / palisade layer has MANY chloroplasts - for maximum light absorption
and fast photosynthesis
Waxy cuticle is transparent to allow light to pass through to the palisade cells
Palisade cells are columnar and packed tightly - this means more can fit in the leaf and therefore
absorb light for photosynthesis.
Spongy layer has lots of air spaces - this allows carbon dioxide to diffuse quickly into the leaf
Leaves have pores called stomata - these allow gasses to diffuse in and out of the leaf and also
help to control water loss
2 ways in which a plant uses sugar are: Energy for growth, Building strctures like cell walls and most importanlty storing excess sugar and turning it into starch.
