George Washington: most popular US President ever, set standards but was better as a general
Fluidness: Office of the President is vague
Three Questions:
Should the United States even have a Presidency? They feared that any President would eventually become a King. They decided on specific requirements for the office and decided to allow the country to survive, or perish, on the character of the people themselves
What should be the length of someone winning the Presidency? How long should they serve? It was decided that a President would win his position for a period of four years. The Founding Fathers did not put a restriction on how many times someone could run and win. It was not until the 22 Amendment that a restriction was placed.
How should the United States choose its President. Remembering that the Founding Fathers feared Democracy, it was decided that a group of unelected people (the electoral college) would make
the decision, pick who would be President.

presidential greatness
set by the concept of Political Orders
Political Orders
These are sets of ideas, institutions, and coalitions that will dominate an era long after the Presidency has changed hands
Political Orders have 3 part cycle
