Accessing and Installing Microsoft Office 365 on PC or Mac
There are two main methods to access Office 365 for students:
Web Version:
- Via the Falcon Mail app launcher (waffle grid icon in the upper left corner), which provides access to common apps like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Through Falcon Online:
- Log in to your Falcon Online account.
- Look for the Office 365 widget; note that it needs to be manually opened.
- Log in with Outlook credentials to access Outlook, Calendar, and OneDrive.
Direct URL Access:
- Use 0365.daytonastate.edu to log in directly with school credentials.
Students are expected to use the provided Microsoft 365 software for several reasons:
- Accessibility: The software can be accessed both online and offline, ensuring availability when internet access is limited.
- Collaboration: Microsoft 365 facilitates easy collaboration on projects through shared documents and integrated tools like OneDrive for file storage and sharing.
- Comprehensive Tools: It includes essential applications for document processing, presentations, and data management which are standard in academic settings, thus helping students develop relevant skills for future employment.
- Cost Effectiveness: Microsoft 365 is provided to students at no additional cost, making it an economical choice compared to purchasing software separately.
