1.6 Scales of Analysis Notes
Scale is simply described as the size or scope of a phenomenon (level at which we analyze geographic data).
Global Scale applies throughout the globe (geospatial technology makes it possible).
Scale of Analysis is the level in which we are looking at the data.
For example, in the US, Scale of analysis could look a bit like this:
It takes various scales to see if patterns remain the same or look different (depending on which scale is being used).
Global Scale- The entire world, map of the entire planet
World Regional Scale- Multiple countries of the world
National Region Scale- A portion of a country or a region(s) within a country
Local Scale- A province, state, city, county or, neighborhood
