Poem - It is a type of writing that uses rhythm, rhyme, and expressive language to convey feelings or ideas. It is usually structured in lines and stanzas, and often uses figurative language to create images or emotions
Forms of a poem:
Lyric - sonnet, song, elegy and ode
Narrative - Ballad and Epic
Dramatic - Tragedy and Comedy
Imagery - paints a picture
Literary Devices/Figurative Language - used by poets and writers to add color, shades of meaning, and creativity in their writing.
Metaphor - makes comparison between two things to show they are identical. Ex. Clouds are cotton castles
Symbolism - uses symbol, anything that represents a deeper meaning beyond the literal, to represent ideas. Ex. Sing sin
Alliteration - shows repetition of initial consonant sounds of nearby words
Ex. Poop Players, Jazz JuneAssonance - shows repetition of vowel sounds of nearby words Ex. Seven and Golden, Cool and School
Rhyme - Same ending sound
Rhythm - Beat and Pace
Persona - speaker in the poem
Meaning - What the poet intends to express in verse

LESSON 2
Suprasegmentals - features of speech that make utterances more meaningful
Stress - Puts emphasis on parts of a word or sentence
(RE-cord) and (re-CORD)
Punctuation marks - symbols used to convey meaning and show emotions
Apostrophe - indicates possession or ownership
Hyphen - forms compound words (Empty-handed)
En dash - represents connection, direction, or conflict. (July 22 - 25) and (Tanauan to manila)
Quotation marks - sets off direction quotations or dialogues
Pitch - highness or lowness of the voice
Intonation - variation of pitch making the melodic pattern of speech
Period - used at the end of a statement
Question mark - Used at the end of a question
Exclamation Point - used to show excitement or emphasis at the end of a sentence
Interjections - words, phrases, or clauses characterized by sudden nor strong emotions (AHH, OUCH, FUCK)
Juncture - refers to a pause between words, phrases, or clauses
Comma - used to separate words, phrases, or clauses in a sentence
Semicolon - used to join two independent clauses that are closely related (She loves reading; her favorite book is Harry potter and goblet or fire)
Colon - used to introduce a list after a complete sentence (There are two choices rescuers must face: Run away or fight
Em dash - used to signal that additional or extra information will follow. (Gma field reporters - Vonne Aquino, Russel Simorio, Anjo Bagaoisan to name a few)
Rate - speed of one’s speech
Volume and Projection - loudness or softness of voice

Creative writing is a medium used for the expression of thoughts, ideas and emotions. It focuses on self-expression, originality, and it is unique and impactful.
Creative writing - involves imagination
Imagination - helps you two explore new ideas, settings, and characters. It plays a crucial role in creating original and captivating stories.
ELEMENTS
Point of view - The perspective from which a story is told
(1st, 2nd, 3rd person point of view)
Character - persona of the text written, not just a person, can be animals or objects
Setting - where and when a text takes place. It is well-written, viivid descriptions of location, time-period, and atmosphere. It helps establish the mood and tone, which influences how readers grasp and engage with the events that unfold.
Mood - view of reader
tone - Set by the author
Theme - it is the main idea or message, the text’s underlying meaning can opften be inferred from the events and actions of the writer of the text.
By understanding the theme, readers can gain insight into the author’s perspective on certain issues or topics. It can also connect with the text on a deeper level
Writing Prompt - questions, themes, or statements that help the author produce starting ideas fro writing his text.
LESSON 4
Speech Choir - the first plays put on by greeks featured choruses of speakers. Today speech choir is a popular teaching tool, as well as a performing art.
Speech choir operates like a music choir minus the music. Instead of singing, speech choirs perform spoken word pieces.
Speech choir - a performance group that recites a speech in unison, often with elements of choreography and costuming to help bring the speech to life
ELEMENTS
Piece - Selections are typically poems or poetic passage such as green dramas or Shakespeare’s plays. The composition that you will be using in performing your speech choir.
Voice
- Voice Quality - The ability to combine success fully the light medium annd dark voices in the choir
- Number of Voices - the ability to add or subtract whole sections, smaller groups, or solo speakers to increase or diminish the power or richness of the sound to better express the meaning
- Power - the ability to use volume, force or loudness as emphasis in appropriate places/parts to better express feeling and meaning
Costumes - can be simple outfit or robe, or a theatrical garb (clothing or dress)
PITCH – variations of voice
TEMPO – rate of speed at which a reading progresses
STAGING - ability to successfully organize and position the choir on stage or risers for performance effect.
Members - 12 - 100 members or more schools and competitions feature choirs of 25 to 40 members
