ISD5
ISD5 will develop different skills to other ISD components:
• Aim: provide students with knowledge and skills to ensure an evidence-based approach to their continuous professional development (CPD) coupled with an understanding of quality improvement activity (QIA)
• CLC3 students should understand the importance of QIA & research as the cornerstones of optimising patient experiences & outcomes and recognising & delivering evidence-based dental care

ISD5 Evaluation
Component is designed to introduce you to research style working, teamwork and independence in line with higher and postgraduate education
Tutors are approachable if you need them – but following delivery of lectures and seminars, the onus is on your group work. Reach out if needed!
Timing of research day deliberately end of 2nd term, post CSD, CDMP & formatives & prior to a busy 3rd term. Need to balance with demands of placements & UCP etc. Reflects programme going forwards & working life
Following 2023-2024 evaluation, updates made to LiftUpp and with arrangements for submission of abstracts and presentation slides
Groups are randomly assigned by year admin. Deliberate move – professional practice and research skills in team-work, working with others you may not usually work with, everyone expected to contribute.
ISD5 attendance is mandatory for CPP – as is engagement with activities. Any concerns about contributions , raise these to tutors
