Module One Geometry One
VOCAB
point: A set location in a space represented by an uppercase letter
colinear: 3 or more points that lie on the same line
noncolinear: 3 or more points that don't lie on the same line
line: an infinite collection of numbers in two directions
line segment: a portion of a line with two distinct endpoints
plane: a flat surface made up of at least three noncollinear points.
coplanar: 2 or more points that lie on the same plane
ray: an infinite part of a line with one endpoint (known as the initial point) and the arrow at the end (terminal)
angle: Two rays joined at a common vertex
acute angle: An angle between 0 degrees and 89 degrees
obtuse angle: An angle that measures between 91 degrees and 179 degrees
right angle: An angle that measures exactly 90 degrees
straight angle: An angle that measures exactly 180 degrees
adjacent angle: angles with a common vertex and side
supplementary angles: angles whose sum adds to 180 degrees
complementary angles: angles whose sum adds to 90 degrees
linear pair: 2 adjacent angles that are complementry
congruent angles: Angles whose degrees are the same
vertical angles: two angles that are straight and create an x (only have one point of intersection)
