1.Identify the 4 types of blood groups:
•Group A
•Group B
•Group AB
•Group O
2.Describe how blood groups can be used to identify the presence of antigen in Red Blood Cells, and Antibodies in Plasma
4 types of blood
Groups | Antigen (RBC) | Antibody (Plasma) |
Group A | If a persons RBC’s have only the A antigen, they will have Type A blood | Antibody B |
Group B | If they have only the B antigen, they will have type B blood | Antibody A |
Group AB | If they have both A and B antigens, they will have type AB blood | none |
Group O | If they have neither A or B antigens, they will have O type blood | Antibody AB |
Rh+ | D antigen | none |
Rh- | No antigen | D antibodies |
