Climate Graph Terms

Temperature: how hot and cold the atmosphere is. Measured in °C, above or below the freezing mark (0°C).

Precipitation: the term given to the MOISTURE from the air to the ground. The seven types are: Snow, hail, sleet, drizzle, fog, rain, and mist.

Climate Graphs: a combination of a Bar Graph and a Line Graph. Temperature is a RED line measured in °C. Precipitation is a BLUE bar graph measured in mm.

CONTINENTAL CLIMATE
  • away from the ocean

  • middle of a continent

  • large temperature range

  • low precipitation

MARITIME CLIMATE
  • close to the ocean or body of water

  • along a coastline

  • small temperature range

  • Lots of precipitation
