Dear Students,

As we prepare for the upcoming assessment, I wanted to share the list of topics that will

be covered. Please make sure to look at lessons and revise well:

1. Surah Ash-Shams (The Sun)

Key Themes:

Oaths by natural phenomena (sun, moon, day, night).

Human conscience: Success comes to those who purify their souls; failure to those who corrupt them.

Story of Thamud: Destroyed for disobeying Prophet Salih (AS) and killing the she-camel.

2. Wiping Over Khuffayn (Leather Socks)

Permissibility: Allowed in Wudu if worn in a state of purity.

Duration:

Resident: 24 hours.

Traveler: 72 hours.

Nullifiers:

Removing khuffayn.

Expiry of time limit.

Major impurity (requiring Ghusl).

3. Purity of Intention (Ikhlas)

Hadith: "Actions are judged by intentions..." (Bukhari). Memorize the hadith until the word

Key Points:

Deeds must be solely for Allah’s pleasure.

Examples: Charity for show vs. charity in secret.

4. Seven Shaded by Allah’s Throne (Day of Judgment)

Just Ruler

Youth devoted to worship

Person attached to mosques

Two who love for Allah’s sake

Man who resists temptation

Secret giver of charity

One who remembers Allah in solitude

5. Concept of Wealth in Islam

Ownership: Wealth belongs to Allah; humans are trustees.

Halal Earnings: Avoid interest (riba) and dishonesty.

Spending:

Obligatory (Zakat, family needs).

Voluntary (Sadaqah).

Barakah: Blessings increase with righteousness.

6. Najasah (Impurities) & Purification

Types of Najasah: Urine, feces, blood, alcohol, dog/pig saliva.

Purification Methods:

Wudu (minor impurity).

Ghusl (major impurity, e.g., Janabah).

Tayammum (with clean soil if water is unavailable).

Summary of Surat Ash Shams

  • Begins with a series of oaths: sun, moon, day, night.

  • Verses 8-10 reveal a key psychological truth:
    Allah has given everyone a conscience or inner voice that helps distinguish right from wrong.

    • Those who listen to this inner voice achieve success.

    • Those who ignore it fail.

  • The second part describes the civilization of Thamood and their destruction.

    • Their downfall was due to rejecting Prophet Salih and his message.

    • They were provided with a miracle: a she-camel.

    • Despite warnings, they transgressed by slaughtering the camel, leading to their destruction.

    • This serves as an important lesson for modern civilizations.


Wiping Over Khuff (Leather Footwear)

  • Wiping over leather footwear is permitted based on authentic narrations.

  • Both men and women may perform this practice.

Duration:

  • Residents: 24 hours

  • Travelers: 72 hours

  • If a resident travels, they follow the traveler's duration (72 hours).

  • Upon returning home, one should wipe for 24 hours as a resident.

Nullifiers of Mash (Wiping):

  • Anything that nullifies wudu (ablution).

  • Removal of the footwear.

  • Expiry of the prescribed period.

Important Rules:

  • Footwear must be put on while in a state of purity.

  • Specific areas of the footwear should be wiped, as prescribed in Islamic law.


Wudhu (Ablution)

  • Comprises four essential steps:

    1. Washing the face

    2. Washing the hands and arms up to the elbows

    3. Wiping the head

    4. Washing feet up to the ankles

Tayammum (Dry Ablution)

  • An alternative cleansing method when water is unavailable.

  • Permitted for:

    • Travelers

    • Those unable to find water due to illness, extreme cold, or fear of harm.

  • Involves:

    • Striking clean earth (soil or sand) once with the hands

    • Wiping the face and hands


Additional Notes

  • Wiping over leather footwear is a concession from Allah.

  • The only ritual that women in menstruation are not allowed to perform is prayer.

  • Tayammum should be performed with pure earthly substances like soil or sand, and wiping must cover the entire hand.


Allah’s Mercy

  • Allah does not want to make life harder for Muslims.

  • Tayammum exemplifies Allah’s mercy and ease in worship.

Pure Intentions in Islam

  • A pure intention transforms ordinary actions into acts of worship (ibadah).

  • Good deeds require proper intention to be accepted.

  • Concepts of purity:

    • Allah is pure and free from imperfections.

    • Allah accepts deeds done purely for His sake.

    • Allah loves those who purify themselves.

    • Islam is pure; paradise is only for the pure.

Additional Guidance

  • Giving money to charity to show off is not accepted by Allah.

  • Wages paid to workers will be accepted by Allah.

  • Helping parents will be accepted by Allah.

Summary of seven persons are shaded by the Arsh:

  • On the day of Judgement, Allah will shade seven individuals, shielding them from the scorching heat.

  • A ruler who rules with fairness, justice and accountability will be protected

  • Young people who are raised in worship and knowledge of Allah will be shaded

  • Those who love and frequently visit the mosque for prayers will be shaded

  • Two people who love each other purely for Allah is sake will be shaded and protected

  • A man who resists evil temptation will be in Allah is shade

  • Those who give charity secretly will be shaded

  • Remembering Allah in solitude with tears will be protected by Allah.


Summary of the concept of wealth:

  • All possessions and riches are owned by Allah alone humans are trustees not owners

  • Humans are entrusted with wealth by Allah, responsible for earning it through permissible ways and spending it correctly without wasting it.

  • Allah sustains us with livelihood from the heavens above and the earth below.

  • The main purpose of life is to worship Allah and obey his commands including sharing wealth through obligatory ways like zakat.

  • Right acts increase our blessing in wealth

  • Helping the poor and giving zakat bring rewards and blessings

  • The focus should be on obeying Allah and not wealth

  • Be grateful for everything you have and don't be greedy.




Najasah( impurity)

  • Any filth or impurity invalidates the act of worship and one must purify themselves

  • The types of impurities are urine, feces, blood minor impurities are dirt, sweat, dust

  • Removing the major impurity with water until it is completely removed.

  • Use enough water to cover the impurities and make sure it is fully encleansed

  • Wudu and ghusl is performed after purification

  • Water should be clean, pure and free from impurities.

  • Tayammum is allowed when no water is present and it involves using clean earth or dust instead of water

  • Impure clothing must be removed before prayer and cleaned to remove impurities.

  • Purity is essential for the validity of prayer and other acts of worship in islam.



Attributes of Allah in ayat al kursi:

  • Ayat al kursi named by the prophet peace be upon him is a very important verse from the quran that shows Allah is great power and knowledge as well as mercy

  • Ayat al kursi is a significant verse in the Quran and highlights the attributes of Allah that show his infinite knowledge, eternal life and ownership over all creations, reciting this verse is believed to bring spiritual protection, peace and blessings.

  • Ayat al kursi describes Allah's attributes especially his knowledge, power and mercy and the sustainer of all existence.

  • Allah is attribute of never sleeping or becoming tired signifies his eternal vigilance and independence

  • Everything in the universe belongs to Allah

  • Allah is knowledge encompasses the past, present and future and no one can match his wisdom

  • The verse also highlights the vastness of Allah is throne which extends over the heavens and the earth
