El Imperfecto

• María me compraba flores. = María bought me flowers. (habitual action)

• Recuerdo que siempre llovía en aquel pueblo. = I remember it always rained in that village (a common occurrence,)

• Nosotros siempre llegábamos a hoteles muy tarde en la noche. = We always arrive at hotels very late at night. (this is something that happens every time)

• Estaba durmiendo cuando mi perro ladró ruidosamente. = I was sleeping when my dog barked loudly. (an action continuing into the present interrupted by a completed action)

• Mientras cenaba, llamaba a mi madre. = While she was eating, I was calling my mother. (two general past actions at the same time)

• Cuando vivía en Tejas, siempre tenía calor. = When I lived in Texas, I was always hot (physical sensation, general description of the past)

• Mi hermana tenía 17 años hace dos meses. = My sister was 17 years old two months ago. (age)

El Futuro Inmediato

Describes an action in the immediate future, something that will happen very soon

Conjugated “ir”     +    “a”    +    an infinitive

• Yo voy a estudiar cuando vuelvo a casa.

• Sofía va a llamarme esta tarde

El Futuro

Describes an event that will happen in the more distant future

Future conjugation of “Haber”     +     past participle (ex. Hablado, comido, vivido, leído, pintado)

• Yo habré leído la novela para el lunes.

• Cuando lleguemos al teatro, ya habrá empezado la obra.

El Condicional

Describes what a person would do or what would happen under specific circumstances (ex. me gustaría = I would like)
