Ch 11 Religion 

  1.  Peter was the first bishop of Rome. 

  2. The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch 

  3. The first church council was in Jerusalem

  4. The New Testament has four accounts of Paul’s conversion.

  5. The Church’s worldwide councils are known as Ecumenical Councils

  6. In the Council of Jerusalem, the Church clarified Jesus’ teaching that a Christian must have faith in Jesus and be baptized. 

  7.  In A.D.70, Roman soldiers destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem. 

  8.  Paul’s Epistles corrected the church communities he established and praised them for their faith

  9.  To live as Jesus’ disciples, we are called to an ongoing conversion. 

  10.  At first, Christians were considered a branch of Judaism. 

  11.  The Church in Antioch was made up of Jewish and  Gentile communities

  12.   The Council of Jerusalem united and strengthened the Church

  13. Some Jewish Christians demanded that the Gentiles keep the Jewish traditions. 

  14.  Since the Council of Jerusalem, the Church has held 21 worldwide councils. 

  15. After  Paul’s conversion, he journeyed throughout the Roman Empire, proclaiming Jesus Christ as the Savior.
