Degrees of Freedom

  • Calculated as the difference between total samples and the number of groups being compared.

    • For example, in this case:

      • Degrees of Freedom (df) = Total samples (5) - Groups (2) = 3.

P-Value Comparison

  • The p-value is compared to a significance level to make decisions regarding the null hypothesis.

    • Common significance level used: 0.05.

    • If p-value < 0.05: Do not reject the null hypothesis.

    • If p-value > 0.05: Reject the null hypothesis.

Candy Statistics

  • Discussion on the completion of statistics related to candy datasheet.

    • Current progress noted, but further questions regarding the analysis remain.

    • A 15-point summative assessment will not be due immediately, allowing for further review.

    • Students expected to work on statistics over the weekend.

Lab Report Preparation

  • Emphasis on starting lab reports during the weekend before meeting on Monday.

    • Importance of having partial data to discuss in class.

    • Expectation to initiate and attempt statistical analysis.

    • Reinforcement of understanding through practice.

Data Entry Instructions

  • Procedure to follow for data entry in school shared via provided folder.

    • Name and associated data must be clearly inputted.

Results Documentation

  • Results section of the lab report should mirror previous lab, focusing on:

    • Pair data collection.

    • Class graphing and error bars.

    • Chi Squared analysis.

  • Conclusions to include insights on the linear relationship of data and reasoning for conducting the Chi Squared test.

Graphing and Function Calculations

  • Explanation of F of X calculations and their significance to the graphing of data.

    • Slope and y-intercept used in calculations to find y values.

    • The formula indicated: y = slope * x + y-intercept.

  • Details on handling group data and corresponding calculations.

Additional Clarifications

  • Chi Squared test applications specific to class data versus group data discussed.

  • Emphasis that zero should not be included in calculations due to the potential of negative values.

  • Confirmation on data completion and readiness for analysis.

After coming back home many people arrive from their jobs feeling exhausted, sweaty or parched. The water they drink consists of minerals and concentrations of other substances including chlorine for proper sanitization. However when using that same water to wash their face may result in dryness, irritation and vulnerability to sensitivity if the concentration of chlorine is high.
