Health Science 1 Vocab- Chapter 1

1. National Consortium for Health Science Education: 

• A national collaboration between health care providers and scientists to provide health science students with extra education to prepare them for work.

2.  Standards:

• A set of values and beliefs that reflect in the way you complete tasks and responsibilities.

3.  Therapeutic Services:

• A service focussed on bettering one's health over time with treatments and procedures as well as collecting data, treatment planning, and intake procedures. 

4.  Diagnostic Services:

• A service focused on diagnosing a patient through tests.

5.  Health Informatics:

• The buying, transforming, storing, and usage of health-related information.

6.  Support Services:

• Services are provided to help patients achieve self-efficacy, especially after a medical change or diagnosis.

7.  Biotechnology:

• Devices used to study advances in biology and experiment with gene and microorganism editing.

8.  Associate’s Degree:

• A degree is achieved after two years of college usually through a junior or community college.

9.  Bachelor’s Degree:

• A degree is achieved after four years of college.

10. Master’s Degree:

• A degree achieved after 1-1.5 years of college.

11. Doctorate:

• A degree achieved after 6 years of college in a field. 

12. Continuing Education:

• Legal responsibility for continuing your education during your career (after college).

13. Entrepreneurs:

• People who make money, typically business owners and investors who work for themselves.

14. Career:

• A job that allows for opportunities and advancements.

15. Career Assessment:

• Information obtained from outside sources to guide your career information and choice.

16. Parliamentary Procedures:

• A procedure that allows for the majority to rule and meetings to be held efficiently.
