CPR

General Information

  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

  • AED (Automated External Defibrillator)

  • 1 set = 30 compressions and 2 breaths

  • Not to revive them but to keep them revivable until the AED gets there

Differences between child and adult CPR

  • Adults need compressions that are AT LEAST 2 inches and no more than 2.4 inches, a child need 2 inch compressions

  • When using the AED, check for

    • A child set of pads or a switch, if none are to be found, use the AED regardless

  • 2 hand compressions for adults, 1 for children

CPR process

  • Scene is safe

  • Check for responsiveness - ‘are you ok?’

  • Help help

  • You! Call 911! You! Get and AED!

  • Check for breathing

  • Compressions and Breaths

    • Correct breaths- ‘head tilt/chin lift’ - tip chin back and cover entire mouth with yours and pinch nose (infant cover mouth and nose)

    • Compressions- position perpendicular to the victim. Shoulders directly over the victim.

Ratio of compressions to breaths:

  • Adult

    • 30:2

  • Child

    • 30:2

  • Infant

    • 30:2

    • Choking- 5 back blows: 5 chest thrusts (do not immediately begin or call 911, check for responsiveness to ensure that CPR is totally necessary)

Correct AED use

  • Turn on the AED

  • Apply pads (ensuring that they are the correct ones for either an adult or a child)

  • Follow instructions on AED - stand clear

  • Once shock has been delivered continue compressions

Badminton

General Information

  • A game is played to 21 points

  • You need a two point lead to win or first one to 30 points

  • 1 hit per side

Serving

  • Serve from the left side of the court when your score is an odd number

  • Serve from the right side of the court when your score is even

  • Always serve underhand, forehand, or backhand

  • Serve must land on the opposite service court (diagonally from one side of the court to the other)

  • Serve must land on or past the service line

  • When a person serves and the birdie goes out of bounds the other team gets the point

  • You only switch sides of the court when your team team has served and score a point

Hitting the Birdie

  • A smash is a fast, strong stroke where you contact the birdie on the downward swing, sending the birdie to the ground

  • An overhead clear shot is an overhead shot where you contact the birdie on the upward swing, sending the birdie high in the air and close to the base line, over the opponent’s head

  • A drop shot is a deception shot that looks like an overhead clear shot with a slow follow-through.  It sends the birdie just past the net and should land before the service line on the opponent’s side

 Other info.

  • If the birdie lands on the boundary line it is in

  • You and your partner switch sides when your team serves and wins the point

  • Always say the server’s score first
