Physics chapter 2
statics
the study of how object behave when they are not accelerating
Equilibrium
there can be forces on an object, but there can not be net forces on it. Otherwise, that net force, would make the object accelerate.
=> if an object Is in equilibrium then all of the forces and torques on it have to balance out
Torque
net torque changes an object's angular velocity. It makes things rotate faster or slower
perpendicular force
M=Fxl
Moments
A moment is the turning force around a fixed pivot.
if something is balanced or in equilibrium then the moments are equal and opposite, therefore they cancel each other out.
