Psychosexual Stages OF Development

 

 

Oral - The Mouth- Sucking, Swallo- wing etc.

Anal-The Anus withholding or expelling Faeces

Phallic- The penis or Clitoris - Masturbation.

Latent - Little or no sexual Motivation present.

Genital. The penis or Vagina Sexual Intercourse.

 

 

Oral Stage

* occurs in an Infant's life From birth to 18 Months. (an Infant is Focused on receiving oral pleasure)

* This occurs through breast or bottle Feeding, or sucking a pacifier ,

* These people focus on activities that involve the mouth, such as overeating, biting their Fingernails, Smoking, or drinking.

* Overly dependent upon others, gullible, and Perpetual Followers.

 

Anal Stage

* between 18 months and three years. (child becomes Fixated on receiving pleasure through Controlling and eliminating Faeces)

* A Child become obsessed with Control, perfection, and Cleanliness. 

* This is often referred to as anal retentive, while and expulsive is the opposite. (extremely disorganized, live in chaos, and are known For Making Messes. )

Phallic Stage

* Occurs From the ages OF 3-6 years

* Oedipus complex- Boy child attached to their Mother.

* Electra Complex, Girl child attached to their Father.

- It is believed that male children harbour unconscious, sexual attraction to their mothers, while Female children develop a Sexual attraction .

* These Feelings resolve once the child begins to Identify with their

Same Sex parent.

 

LATENCY Stage

* Occurs From 6- Puberty

- Unconscious Sexual desires and thoughts remain repressed.

- they Form same Sex Friendships and Play in a manner that Is not-Sexual.

 

Genital Stage

- Zone OF Origin - Genitals (private parts)

- Occurs From puberty- infinity.

* Sexual desires are awakened at this stage.

* The Focus is on the genitals as a Source For pleasure.

- They explore attractions to the opposite Sex-
