Christian Education 2 Notes

Christian Nobility: Becoming Noble in Thoughts and Actions

  • True nobility begins in the heart, involving intentional planning and purposing to do what is right and honorable.
  • Noble thoughts are rooted in a desire to do good and be beneficial to others, not from personal agendas that exploit people.
  • A noble mind yields noble words, which in turn lead to noble deeds.
  • Cultivate inner integrity and channel it through your actions.
  • Be intentional in living righteously and stand firm to what is honorable, even when it is unpopular or difficult.

Turning the Light On: The Importance of God's Word

  • Course Intended Learning Outcome: Understand the importance of God’s word and its contribution for our growth and maturity.
  • As Christians, we need a strong moral compass because the world is becoming increasingly confusing.
  • Cultural challenges should drive us to God's Word for wisdom.

4 Benefits of God's Word:

  1. A Light to Our Feet
    • Provides needed light for decisions and directions.
    • Helps us walk confidently by revealing stumbling blocks.
    • Reveals the hurts and needs of others so we can bring God's light and love to them.
  2. A Light to Our Path
    • Helps us discern our purpose and choose the path God has prepared.
    • Eliminates anxiety and fear about the future, giving us wisdom to trust God's plans.
    • 2 Timoteo 3:16-17 states that all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, correcting, and training in righteousness.
  3. Shines Light into Our Character
    • Reveals what is really going on inside, exposing wrong actions and attitudes.
    • Brings a change of heart and behavior, leading to conviction and correction.
    • Necessary for spiritual maturity and Godly living.
  4. Shines Light into Our Circumstances
    • Helps us see the truth about what we are going through so we can make wise decisions.
    • Helps us recognize the schemes of the enemy so we can take a stand or change course.
  • Darkness is the absence of light, spiritually speaking, the absence of Jesus.
  • Spend time with Jesus and His Word daily to "turn the light on."
  • Memory Verse: 2 Timoteo 3:16 highlights the purpose of scripture.

Take Action:

  1. Identify a "Life Verse" that impacts your life and serves as a light.
  2. Read Psalm 1:1-3 and Hebrews 4:12 to learn about the benefits of reading and meditating on God's Word.

Guard Your Heart

  • Emphasizes the significance of the heart in shaping our lives.
  • The heart is referred to as the core of a person and the seat of thoughts, desires, values, and choices.
  • Taking care of our hearts (core) should be a priority, watching over it carefully, for everything flows from it.
  • A compromised heart can lead to a compromised life.
  • Proverbs 4:23 reminds us to guard our hearts above all else, for everything we do flows from it.

Go All Out: Make Everything Count

  • Course Intended Learning Outcome: To demonstrate a committed and wholehearted pursuit of personal and spiritual growth.
  • Practicing self-discipline, integrity, and intentional effort in all areas of life and service.
  • The theme is to "Count Your Days and Make Your Days Count."
  • Counting days means recognizing that our time on earth is limited and precious.
  • It invites us to live with a sense of urgency, wisdom, and intentionality.
  • Making your days count encourages us to live each day in a way that honors God, serves others, and provides a lasting impact.
  • Don’t just measure time—maximize it, and live with purpose, integrity, and eternal perspective.
  • Matthew 25:14-18 tells the parable of the talents, where servants were given different amounts:
    • Servant 1: 5000
    • Servant 2: 2000
    • Servant 3: 1000
  • The first two servants doubled their amounts, while the third servant buried his talent out of fear.
    • Servant 1: 5000 - 5000
    • Servant 2: 2000 - 2000
    • Servant 3: 1000 - 0
  • Those who truly grow reject fear, distractions, shortcuts, and excuses; they must maintain a laser-like focus to go all-out to make their lives count.
  • It’s not about where you start, but where you finish.
  • The question is not “how much do I have?” but “what will I do with it?”
  • With great opportunity comes great responsibility, as stated in Lucas 12:48.
  • Ephesians 5:15 advises us to walk wisely.
  • To make everything count, we need to know what to say “no” to.
  • Memory Verse: Efeso 5:15 urges us to live wisely.

Take Action:

  1. List the most important gifts or opportunities you have been given.
  2. Ask yourself if you are maximizing them.
  3. Consider what good things you might have to say no to, so you can say yes to the things that matter most.

The Power of Momentum: Keep Moving Forward

  • Course Intended Learning Outcome: Recognize how consistent actions and small wins contribute to personal growth.
  • Apply momentum-building strategies to overcome setbacks, and foster emotional maturity, resilience, and long-term self-improvement.
  • Philippians 3:13 encourages us to forget what lies behind and strain forward.
