one guy was removed for missing traditional religious belief data

The study was designed and conducted by the University of Brighton. An opportunity sample of participants (N = 519) were invited to complete the questionnaire by first-year University of Brighton Psychology undergraduate students. 314 females, 183 males, 12 non-binary people and 7 people who preferred not to disclose their gender took part in the study. 3 participants were removed from the dataset due to missing data. The mean age was 31.4 across all genders (SD = 16.2).

The questionnaire used to collect data was constructed using the Big Five Trait Taxonomy (John & Srivastava, 1999) and the Revised Paranormal Belief Scale (Tobacyk, 2004). A correlational design was used to gain insight into relationships between the personality traits assessed via the Big Five measure and the paranormal beliefs considered on the Paranormal Belief Scale.

Participants completed the questionnaire online via Qualtrics, where they were reminded at all stages of their right to withdraw their data and their right to data confidentiality. The data were then processed by the head of the course and passed to the students for closer analysis in accordance with individual hypotheses. Data were analysed using Jamovi (The Jamovi Project, 2024) and presented in a report.
