Glands (Exocrine):
These glands release substances via ducts onto epithelial surfaces (e.g., skin, mucous membranes).
Examples: sweat, salivary, and mammary glands.
Functions include cooling (sweat), lubrication (mucus), and enzymatic digestion (saliva).
Tissue Damage:
Injury or harm to body tissues from trauma, infection, inflammation, etc.
The body reacts through inflammation, immune responses, and repair.
Chronic damage can cause fibrosis or necrosis.
Tissue Cells:
Tissues consist of cells with specific roles. Cell types vary by tissue.
Examples:
Epithelial cells: protective barriers.
Connective tissue cells: support.
Muscle cells: movement.
Nerve cells: signal transmission.
Cell structure and function are vital to tissue function.
